First aid training should leave you with more than a certificate. It should leave you knowing what to do when somebody needs help.

UFAS provides PHECC and Irish Heart Foundation first aid, CPR and resuscitation training for individuals, workplaces, healthcare professionals and organisations across Ireland.

Choose from full workplace First Aid Response training, refresher courses, CPR and AED training, paediatric first aid and specialist courses. Training is available at scheduled courses and, for organisations, on-site at your premises.

First Aid Response (FAR)

The recognised standard for workplace first aiders in Ireland.

This PHECC First Aid Response course is delivered over a minimum of 18 contact hours and covers the knowledge and practical skills needed to respond when someone becomes ill or injured before emergency medical help arrives. Blended learning option also available.

Successful participants receive a joint PHECC/UFAS First Aid Response certificate, valid for two years.

First Aid Response Refresher

A refresher for holders of a current First Aid Response (FAR) certificate, renewing your PHECC and UFAS qualification for a further two years. Take it before your existing certificate expires to stay current.

Emergency First Aid

A practical one-day course covering the first aid essentials, for anyone who wants the confidence to help in an everyday emergency. Certificate valid for two years.

Learn how to recognise and respond to common illnesses and injuries and build the confidence to help while professional assistance is on the way.

Paediatric First Aid

First aid for babies and young children — ideal for parents, childminders and pre-school staff. A full day covering child and infant emergencies, with a certificate valid for two years.

This practical course covers common childhood injuries and emergencies and helps learners build the confidence to respond when a baby or child needs help.

Cardiac First Response (CFR) Community

A short PHECC course in CPR and defibrillator (AED) use, in about half a day. Open to everyone, and the foundation that the full First Aid Response course builds on.

IHF Heartsaver (CPR & AED)

CPR and AED training for members of the public and non-acute staff. Two to four hours, with an internationally recognised IHF and AHA certificate valid for two years.

IHF Basic Life Support (BLS)

Basic Life Support for healthcare professionals — CPR and resuscitation across all age groups. Internationally recognised IHF and AHA certificate valid for two years.

Oxygen Therapy Administration

A half-day course in the safe administration of emergency oxygen, for first aiders and healthcare staff. Certificate valid for two years.

The course combines essential knowledge with hands-on practice so learners understand how and when emergency oxygen equipment should be used.

Cardiac First Response Advanced (CFR-A)

Advanced cardiac response training for healthcare professionals and people working in emergency medical, fire and rescue services.

CFR Advanced builds on the skills taught at CFR Community level, adding advanced airway management, bag valve mask (BVM) ventilation, oxygen administration, two-person CPR and post-resuscitation care.

It is also a pre- or co-requisite for entry to PHECC Emergency First Response, EMT and Paramedic courses.

Successful participants receive a PHECC Cardiac First Response Advanced certificate, valid for two years.
