Who it’s for
This course is designed for childminders, crèche and pre-school workers, Montessori and school staff, special needs assistants, parents, carers and sports coaches — anyone who works with or looks after infants and young children and wants the confidence to act in a paediatric emergency.
There are no formal prerequisites. The course includes practical activities and CPR assessment using training manikins. If you require any reasonable accommodations to take part in the training or assessment, please let us know when booking. We’ll be happy to discuss how we can support you.

Practical training for paediatric emergencies
First aid involving a baby or young child can feel very different from responding to an adult.
That is why this course focuses specifically on paediatric emergencies, with practical training in infant and child CPR, choking management and the situations people caring for children may encounter.
Learners have the opportunity to practise the skills and demonstrate them through practical assessment rather than simply watching them being performed.
Duration & assessment
The course runs for a full day. Assessment includes CPR skills assessment, responses to two simulated first aid scenarios and a short-answer question assessment. The pass mark is 50%. Each assessment component must be passed individually to complete the course.
Certification
On successful completion, participants receive a UFAS Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for 2 years.

How long is a Paediatric First Aid certificate valid?
The UFAS Paediatric First Aid Certificate is valid for two years from the date of successful completion of the course.
Is Paediatric First Aid suitable for crèche and childcare staff?

Does the course include infant and child CPR?
Yes. The course includes practical training in both infant CPR and child CPR, as well as choking management and AED use.
Learners practise CPR using training manikins and complete a practical CPR skills assessment as part of the course.
